What do you do to relax when you are stressed out?

Everyone has a sanctuary, ritual, or something that helps them shake the stress. I’m no different. I have anxiety attacks, although they are not as frequent or sever as they once were. I still fear them, very much so. If you’ve ever had a panic attack then you know what I’m talking about. Your chest gets tight, you can’t breathe, you start to sweat & shake. Yeah, not something that’s pleasant. It’s a little embarrassing if it happens in public, at least it is for me anyway. I try not to let it happen in a public place though.

I have a couple different things that help me through the days I’m stressed. If the weather is nice { which I for one can not wait for spring to get here! } I like to go for a walk. Sometimes I listen to music sometimes I just like to be fully aware of my beautiful surrounding.

Sit back in my chair with the blinds or window open sipping on a caramel vanilla latte or a cup of hot tea and read a book. I have a few books on my kindle but I’m trying to fill my bookshelf. There is just something about an actual book you can see & touch that I love. I’ve always been like that.

I also hang out with my brother. We’ll find something to do around town. While we walk, eat, or spectate we talk about whatever subjects come up. I’m not the kind of person to deluge the entirety of my problems but a lot of advice gets taken &/or decision made with these little talks.

A good ol’ game of paintball really helps. Which I can’t wait for it to finally get warm outside so we can set up some weekend games. When we were younger and could take it, we’d freeze our paintballs. I know what your thinking, it wasn’t all of them, just like 10.

It’s always nice to escape and have a way to turn off the world. Life is too short to be stressed for too long. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

    Panic attacks are the worst. I sometimes read, but drinking a glass of helps to relax me when I’m feeling anxious.

      Panic attacks are horrible. When I first started having them I had no idea what was going on. I’d call my parents and they’d want to take me to the E.R. So I hope yours all controlled mow. I hope you & the kiddos are having a great day so far!

  2. These are all great ways to relax! I know for me it depends on what is stressing me out. Sometimes, I like to go for a run or boxing. Other times, I need to just chill out, read a book, or take a nap. It all depends on the stressor for me!

      I love taking naps too. Mine usually last about 2 hours. I use to do kickboxing and it was amazing. I hope your having a great weekend!

    I am glad to see that you hang out with your brother, especially when you are stressed. I do the same. My brother is my go-to guy- I don’t think anyone can possibly know you any better than your own sibling.

    Stress is something that I have a horrible time dealing with and unfortunately, I don’t always handle it well. If I can catch it before it gets too bad, I usually try a hot bath with lavender or peppermint oil.

    Or I get on the treadmill.

  5. Anxiety is the worst! I know first hand. I like to listen to gospel music or just take a nice long walk alone. Yoga helps too, but I don’t get to do much of it with 4 kids running around the house.

  7. I suffer from anxiety and depression as well. I am working on increasing my physical activity so I can stress less and sleep better at night. I also drink a LOT of tea and relax by reading a book. Thanks for sharing what you like to do to destress! Stopping by from Hump Day Happenings!

  9. Paintball is so much fun! It’s one of my favorite sports. I’m part of a paintball league that plays every Saturday and we get pretty competitive. There’s even an award ceremony at the end of the season for the person who has won the most battles, taken out the most people, etc. I can’t wait for the season to start up again at the end of April!
